Project: China Clay Country Park

Client: St Austell China Clay Museum Trust Ltd.

Location: Near St Austell, Cornwall

Approximate Project Value: £250,000.00
Implementation of an exhibition interpreting the industrial and social history of Cornwall’s clay country. A variety of displays tell the story of China Clay from William Cookworthy’s discovery in the 18th century through to the present day industry.

The displays are located within a new entrance structure and refurbished site building following a successful Stage 2 HLF application, plus funding from Objective One.

Inter-actives form a major part of the experience, and include clay product wall, tug ’o’ war, listening post and monitor (water cannon) displays.

The exhibition interpretation scheme has subsequently been extended to include the industrial site.
